What is RSS?
If you browse www.ruralnews.co.nz regularly and have a favorite channel that you visit frequently to check for new information, instead of having to visit the website everytime you need to check for new content, you can make the new content come to you.

This is possible with a technology called RSS, which stands for (Really simple syndication). RSS newsreaders will periodically check the website for new content, retrieve it for you, and save a summary of the new content. RSS is an Internet standard document format that allows for easily sharing information such as news headlines and other web content.

Using RSS
To use RSS you need a simple piece of software called a RSS newsreader. This software checks to see if any new content has been added to your desired channel and alerts the user if new content has been added.

Search Google for RSS newsreaders for various free and commercial newsreaders available to decide on which one you want. Firefox and next generation browsers including Internet Explorer 7 come with newsreaders installed within them and don't need any specialised software to be installed to read RSS newsfeeds.

Once you've installed a newsreader, you can subscribe to a feed by Dragging and Dropping the RSS button into your RSS reader (below) or hover over the URL and press Control+v on your keboard / right click your mouse and select Copy to copy the URL to paste into your RSS newsreader.

Rural News feeds for Websites
Other websites that want to run Rural News headlines as part of their website can also make use of our RSS feeds to run the latest headlines on their website. However we do require you to credit our website when you use our articles as headlines on your website. Attribution text in the form of 'Rural News Group' should appear where appropriate. Rural News does not accept liability for it's RSS feeds.

To integrate Rural News news headlines on your website, you can use the following external website link http://www.rss-info.com/en_rssinclude-simple.html. Rural News is not responsible for the content on external sites
